Job Description Job Description Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1 year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. A school-based Sign Language Interpreter position is available in Shreveport, LA, offering the opportunity to support deaf and hard-of-hearing students in an educational setting. This role involves facilitating effective communication between students, teachers, and staff, ensuring full access to the curriculum and school activities. Key Responsibilities: Provide accurate and clear sign language interpretation during classes, meetings, and school events Collaborate closely with educators and support staff to accommodate students communication needs Adapt interpreting approaches to suit diverse educational content and individual learning styles Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions Travel between multiple school locations as required to support students Desired Skills and Experience: Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with the ability to interpret complex educational content Previous experience interpreting in a school or educational environment preferred Strong understanding of deaf culture and communication strategies Excellent listening and communication skills Ability to manage multiple assignments and schedules efficiently Location and Travel:This position is based in Shreveport, LA, with some travel between nearby schools or facilities required to meet student needs.
