Pharmacy Intake Specialist - Natchitoches, Louisiana

This is an on-site position in Natchitoches, Louisiana. Certified Pharmacy Technician preferred but not required.
Role and Responsibilities

The Variable Copay Intake Specialist is responsible for handling the intake process including, accepting new referrals, and making sure all necessary information including insurance verification is available to process orders. The Variable Copay Intake Specialist must be detail oriented and able to work in a fast-paced environment. This position requires working on multiple projects simultaneously and can be highly stressful. Additional responsibilities and performs other duties as assigned. Additional duties include, but are not limited to, all reporting requirements as assigned, Fraud and Abuse support, outreach calls to new members, performing designated overrides. The Variable Copay Intake Specialist is a collaborative partner with Southern Scripts for support of appropriate utilization of medications. Provides clerical support and external customer contracts in the support of the formularies.
Comply with all applicable Company policies and procedures, and patient protocols. Comply with all governmental regulations professional standards respecting patient care.
Be able to make outbound calls to members, and inbound calls for enrollment.
Responsibilities include receptionist duties, collection of patient information, referral sources, and insurance verification.
Participate in educational professional programs and/or review of professional literature on an ongoing basis to maintain knowledge and competency in current and developing techniques, professional standards.
Maintain rapport with ordering physicians. Inform the physicians and pertinent others of the changes in the patient's condition/status through visit reports and telephone communication.
Identify and report to management any enrollment issues.
Process all enrollments in a timely manner.
Coordinate all patient information and process paperwork including preparation of file for billing.
Establish patient records and record appropriate patient
Assist with implementation of quality improvement program to meet Company and accreditation standards.
Abide by all obligations under HIPAA related to Protected Health Information (PHI).
If a HIPAA violation is discovered, whether individually or by another, you must report the violation to the Compliance Officer and/or Human Resources.
Attend, complete, and demonstrate competency in all required HIPAA Training offered by the company.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time, non-exempt (hourly) position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00pm ., with occasional after-hours or weekend duties.

Required Education and Experience
Knowledge of computers and telephone systems
2 years of customer service experience preferred
Preferred Education and Experience
Experience in Pharmacy
Ability to file, maintain records, understanding of reimbursement requirements, good typing and telemarketing skills.
Skills: Basic MS Excel, Word and 10-key skills required.
High school education required with minimum two years junior college (all business courses) preferred.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
