Job Description DCS Inc. is looking for a person to carry out the responsibilities and possess the qualifications listed below. The work hours will be from 4 pm to 1:30 am Monday thru Thursday. Beginning May 23 through beginning of school year the work hours will change to daytime. All new hired positions require a 90-day probation period. RESPONSIBILITIES Travel to customer locations throughout Bossier Parish. -- Install fiber and CAT 5 / 6 cables for communication and low voltage systems through building floors, walls, and ductwork. Including terminating and testing cables as needed. -- Build out closets to include racking equipment or installing ladder racks, ladder trays or J-Hooks for running cable. -- Meet with customers onsite to develop an installation strategy and coordinate with staff to ensure access to locations where products will be installed. -- Participate and be part of the commissioning and testing team for installation projects. -- Prepare written reports and communicate verbally with colleagues and supervisors. -- Read blueprints and installation plans for communications and electrical systems by reading drawings, schematics, blueprints, and other visual aids to determine where and how to install each component of the system. -- Troubleshoot and diagnose problems by running diagnostic tests to determine whether there is an issue with the wiring or a part, or if the entire system requires replacement. Analyze, trouble-shoot, repair, and restore equipment/systems to full operation and recommend revisions when necessary for effectiveness. -- Assist with customer estimates to determine what tools and materials are needed to install or repair a system, including estimating time for completion. -- Maintain and update customer information, repair logs, inventory, parts and material and similar records by using basic computer skills. Promote, build, and maintain good customer relations and assist with contract retention. Keep management informed of customer needs, requirements, change orders, system status and actual or potential customer problems. Use current material/inventory in a responsible manner and provide up to date audit of materials. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Work a minimum of 36 hours/week Lift weights of 0 to 30 lbs. from floor to above shoulders and 50 lbs. from floor to waist. Vision adequate for computer use and reading. Hearing adequate for phone use. All employees must maintain a professional image for safety standards. Ability to wear personal protective equipment including hard hat, safety glasses, protected-toe boots, and appropriate gloves for the task. Other equipment on an "as needed" basis may include fall protection, dust mask, respirator, hearing protection, etc. Ability to visit construction jobsites including walking on uneven terrain, occasionally climbing, stooping, squatting and exposure to temperature extremes and the ---elements--- to perform site surveys and collect data for project design. Special hazards may include exposure to mechanical, electrical, chemical, and explosive hazards while performing site visits. Must be able to fit through a 2--- x 2--- ceiling access panel. -- Must physically be able to maneuver into and out of crawl spaces and work on ladders and other elevated locations such as 20--- extension ladders including at times standing for extended periods, and occasionally working outside in extreme temperatures. -- -- Ability to understand basic wiring diagrams. -- -- Ability to work with minimal supervision, keeping up with work schedules, work under pressure and be able to meet deadlines for delivering quality solutions on time. -- -- Must have good communication skills, both verbal and written. -- -- Must have basic computer skills and proficiency with MS Excel, Word and Outlook. Must have a valid driver's license, a clear criminal record, and reliable transportation. -- -- Drug screenings and background checks may be part of the hiring process, which may include a record check.
