The Chemours El Dorado facility located in El Dorado, Arkansas has an OHS (Occupational Health & Safety) Technician position available. This is a visible, key role within the Company and the EHS function. This position will report to the site Operations Manager.

The primary focus area of this OHS Technician role will be to lead and manage site safety and health programs, which includes compliance with Business and Corporate standards and guidelines. Programs will include but are not limited to process safety management, confined space entry, electrical safety, lockout/tagout, fall protection, contractor safety, emergency response, hazard communication, hearing conservation, personal protective equipment, injury/illness prevention and medical surveillance. In addition, this resource will also support other EHS related tasks to meet team and site needs. This individual is expected to exhibit a positive safety attitude, a behavior consistent with the excellent Work Environment, and serve as an advocate for excellence in EHS performance.

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Leads the site Safety Committee and Emergency Response Team
  • Evaluates OHS implications of site process changes, and participates in site project teams as appropriate
  • Manages OHS data for regulatory compliance and corporate reporting, including but not limited to OSHA Form 300, PSM metrics, etc.
  • Responsible for oversight of industrial hygiene monitoring activities
  • Make sure employees have and use safe tools and equipment and properly maintain this equipment.
  • Establish or update operating procedures and communicate them so that employees follow safety and health requirements.
  • Provide safety training in a manner workers can understand.
  • Assist areas in permit implementation and compliance, i.e. sample schedule, special procedures.
  • Maintain and look for opportunities to improve the sites written hazard communication program and train employees on the hazards they are exposed to and proper precautions.
  • Coordinate and track medical examinations and training per OSHA standards.
  • Investigate incidents and accidents to identify what caused them and how they might be prevented
  • Assist with the preparation of various other agency reports.
  • Preparation of, and participate in, agency audits.
  • Participate on both plant and corporate OHS committees / teams
  • Infrequent off-site travel


    To be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:
    • High School Diploma
    • 1 - 2 years of experience in OHS
    • Possess working knowledge of OSHA standards, industrial hygiene general principles and monitoring
    • Highly motivated with strong problem-solving skills and capable of working with minimal supervision.
    • Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively in a team environment with operations, technical, and maintenance personnel
    • Experience in management of multiple tasks simultaneously, within established schedules and timelines.
    • Possess effective reading, writing, and mathematical abilities.
    • Possess effective listening and communication skills
    • Demonstrate computer competencies with common software applications (i.e., MS Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint)


      The following skill sets are preferred :
      • Applicable safety certifications (i.e., CSP, ASP, OHST)
      • Minimum of 3 years work experience in high hazard chemical or petrochemical manufacturing.
      • Ability to interpret rules and policies and communicate both oral and written requirements purposefully and accurately.
      • Ability to conceptualize ideas and thoughts into actions utilizing appropriate planning and organizational skills
      • Ability to provide guidance in emergency situations and response, including agency reporting as required.
      • Ability to network and positively interact with other safety professionals
